Dubrovnik is small and cruise crowds are real — so this route flips the clock: big sights at 8am, islands and swims mid-day, and the Old Town reclaimed in the evening when the ships leave.
Day 1
The walls at opening, the Stradun after
Walk the full city walls at 8am sharp (90 minutes, bring water), then coffee on the Stradun as the town wakes. Afternoon swim at Banje beach with the walls as backdrop.

Lokrum island — the locals' escape
Ten minutes by boat: botanical gardens, peacocks, the saltwater 'Dead Sea' lagoon and rocky swim spots. Back for dinner in the Old Town — book a konoba in a side alley, not on the main drag.

Srđ mountain and the war museum
Cable car up Srđ for the definitive view of the walled city and Elafiti islands. The small Homeland War museum in the fortress explains the 1991 siege. Sunset drink at the top, then descend for seafood.

Cavtat by boat — the quiet Riviera
The hourly boat hugs the coast to Cavtat, a horseshoe harbor town with a waterfront promenade, the Račić Mausoleum on the hill and long swims off the pines. Slower, cheaper, calmer than Dubrovnik.

Buža bars and the hidden corners
Morning in the Rector's Palace and the tiny maritime museum, then find the Buža bars — holes in the sea wall where you drink on the rocks and jump in. Last golden hour on the Porporela pier.
