Tokyo rewards a plan: neighborhoods are worlds of their own and distances are real. This route balances the icons, the food and one perfect day trip — walkable blocks in the morning, one big sight per day, dinner where locals actually eat.
Day 1
Shibuya and Shinjuku — the electric first day
Cross the Shibuya Scramble, ride up Shibuya Sky at sunset, then get lost in Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho alleys for yakitori. If energy holds, Golden Gai for a tiny-bar nightcap.

Asakusa and Ueno — old Tokyo
Sensō-ji temple early (before 9am beats the crowds), snack your way down Nakamise street, then Ueno Park and its museums. Finish in Yanaka, the low-rise neighborhood that survived the century.

Tsukiji, Ginza and teamLab — food and light
Breakfast at Tsukiji Outer Market (tamagoyaki, tuna bowls), browse Ginza's depachika food halls, then book teamLab Planets for the afternoon — it's Tokyo's best rainy-day card too.

Day trip to Kamakura — the Great Buddha
One hour by train: the Great Buddha of Kōtoku-in, the Hasedera temple gardens, and the Komachi street for lunch. Back in Tokyo by evening for ramen in Ebisu.

Harajuku, Meiji Shrine and goodbye views
Meiji Shrine's forest at opening time, Takeshita street chaos next door, vintage shopping on Cat Street, and a final skyline from the free Tokyo Metropolitan Government towers in Shinjuku.
